My Mom Heart Matters

This was the title of the amazing conference I was so fortunate to attend last weekend. I was battling with whether I could/should still go since some unplanned circumstances came up right as I was getting ready to leave. A couple hours late was better than not being there at all, I made it and oh am I ever glad it worked out that I did! It was Friday night and Saturday, and I think I needed a bigger notebook to write notes on as the weekend was concluding. The phenomenal author, Sally Clarkson, was the the one who led the speaking and conference, then she had other moms speak throughout, as well as music in between. What an inspirational time!

Here are some all over the place thoughts/scripture/stories that stood out to me...take it for what it's worth. Oh, by the way, just to give some insight on her, she has 4 kids that range from 16-24 (ish), two boys, two girls. And it's all directed, or intended for your role as a mom.

* Your spirit is an anchor for your family
* You can't win the hearts of your children if you don't take the time to monitor their heart. Look deep at what they need, how you sacrifice.
* You'll never please people, God is your audience.
* Stay engaged in your kids, stay in their face.
* One of her kids spoke and said how much mom showed love. She said, "Mom was just always there no matter was. She would crawl into my bed, talk about my day, she invested in us. She knew what was going on in my heart."
* During a kid's rampage invite him/her to your room, offer encouragement, ask if they're ok. They expect you to be/get upset too, you still correct, but you give grace and love.
* Your spirit is a testimony.
* Don't whine, be content and trust in the Lord
* Get kids in habits-teach kids to have a quiet time, be involved with like believers, call on God.
* Let them learn from your ways
* Your rules/standards become a focus of your life-lay foundations of the Lord.
* Never try to deal with issues at night (husband, kids) your hormones/body etc. is drained from the day. Put it in the 'God' filing cabinet, shut the file drawer and go to sleep. Many times in the morning it will be no big deal-you'll be glad you closed it in the file.
* We're not perfect, we study the Lord, it's little by little that we learn and grow. He gives us years.
* We have to model and live it.
* Be consistently consistent.
* God doesn't choose perfect people.
* Engage your heart, be sincere, set patterns. It's a life long journey.
* Continue to water your soul that's blooming.
* You wouldn't throw seeds out your window and just expect them to grow and flourish into beautiful bloomed plants, you need to tend to, water, and nourish each day. You need to do the same with your children.
* Walk with God so that your children learn now.
* We have only one story to tell.
* Never become weary of believing in miracles.
* Write down in your journal what kind of mom you want to be, pray about it, become it.
* Raise your boys to be warriors for the Lord.
* Use your spiritual gifts to build others up. Don't neglect your GIFTS that he's given you!
* Is it a duty or a joy?
* How could you speak/help/minister to anyone if you haven't gone through trials, he's molding you.
* She said she wished she didn't fret through the twists and turn of raising her kids. He knew what He was doing. He was/is training your child. Stop resisting God's will. Ask Him to give you perspective.
* Stay faithful, they're listening. Let them be who they're wired up to be.
* What's the spirit in your home? Are they drawn to you? When in your presence is there trust, encouragement, love?
* How do you worship, praise, show your faith?

Wow, I wondered if I was going to get cut off, if there was a max on this blog, but I just keep typing. I think for now this is enough...literally this is probably 1/3 of the amazing things she said...take it for what it's worth.

She's got handfuls and handfuls of scripture too that I didn't add that coincides with all of this.

Have a blessed weekend!
